SP 2 is not a problem for most computers. That board has a chip set that does not jive with XP. At least SP 2. This makes installing a pain. I couldn't do it back than. This was when windows 7 was released. I think that the SB 710 is the only thing that can be installed during Windows XP installtion and not Service pack 3 as well. SP 3 needs to be on the installer when installing Windows XP. This is why I am digging. The Manual stated compatibility, but I have never gotten XP to work. It is a motherboard chip set issue.
